Parent/Teacher Conferences

We at Glades Middle School strive to meet the needs of all of our students.  If you would like to schedule a Parent/Teacher conference please contact Diana Diaz de Arce by phone at (305) 271--3342 ext. 2272 or by email at ddearce@dadeschhols.net

Please note that Parent/Teacher conferences are by appointment only and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:25 A.M. to 8:50 A.M.

Parenting Workshop

Having Everything but Appreciating Nothing:

Raising Children in an Age of Excess

Do your kids want the latest video games? The most expensive sneakers? A new cell phone? An exotic vacation? Where does it end? Psychologist Gary Lancelotta, Ph.D., reviews the kinds of messages parents give their children regarding money, material goods and wealth. He’ll discuss:

 

  • Raising children while managing financial pressures
  • Giving monetary allowances
  • Gift giving and receiving
  • Promoting a healthy appreciation for hard work and self-sufficiency
  • How to respond when children seem spoiled or unappreciative

 

The fee for the program is $5, and must be paid in advance. To reserve your space and make your payment, please call 786-596-3812.

Saturday, February 6, 2010, 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

 

  • These fun, fast-paced sessions will introduce participants to the "powers" (helpful beliefs and principles) and related skills of Conscious Discipline.  Through structured role-play stations, parents will "try on" new ways of interpreting and responding to a developing child's behavior.  The session will conclude with a "Jeopardy - style" quiz show for review. 
  • All sessions will take place at the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education Training Center located at 3250 SW 3 Avenue, 2nd Floor, Miami, FL  33129.
  • This program is free and offered with generous funding from The Children's Trust, Promotion & Prevention Grant.
