Welcome to Glades Middle School an A+ school for 4 years running .

 VISION STATEMENT

Glades Middle School’s vision statement encompasses a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment developed through interdisciplinary planning, that will engage the learning styles of all students by infusing technology throughout the curriculum.

MISSION STATEMENT

Glades Middle School’s mission statement is to empower students with critical thinking skills so that they are prepared for lifelong learning and stresses the values of creativity, innovation, and experimentation. Thus, providing the students with the tools needed to succeed in a highly technological world and become productive members of society.

 

Next time you see Mr. Siles be sure to tell him Thanks for the cool Everglades mural on our school's front wall. That is right folks, we have an artist extraordinaire as our assistant principal, Mr. Siles is the solo artist who on his own time came out during the summer to paint that great mural.

Does Glades offer before and after school care programs?

[Glades has a partnership with FITKIDS, corp.  and they provide both before and after school care for a fee. Please notify FITKIDS or call the school office for more information.  Mornings are from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and in the afternoons 3:45 to 6:00PM ]

This year we also are offerring FREE - South Florida After School All Stars program.  This runs from 3:45 PM to 5:45 PM  - Monday through Friday.  For more information please contact Mrs. Acosta.

How much is the before/after school program and how often are payments due?

[The cost of before/after school care is $10.00 a day and is paid bi-weekly.]

Does Glades sell uniforms?

[The PTSA sells uniform shirts every morning in the school store before classes. Mon. - Fri. - 8:30 A.M. to 8:55 A.M.  They will be selling uniform shirts in the lobby of the school the first few weeks of school.]

How do I know if my child is eligible for bus transportation?

[Students that live further than two miles from the school are eligible for bus transportation.]

When are immunization records due?

[Prior to students entering into 7th grade.]

What immunizations are students mandated to have?

[The Hepatitis series, TD Booster, and second MMR.]

What documentation is needed to perform a change of address?

[Proper identification and proof of address.(i.e.: lease, FPL bill, phone bill]

Are cellular phones allowed?

[Cellular telephones are allowed only before classes begin and after the school day ends.  Cellular phones must remain OFF during the school day.]

What are the "Leaving School Early" procedures?

[Parents/guardians are to report to the main office where they will sign out the student.  Proper photo identification must be shown by that individual; if photo identification is not provided the student WILL NOT be released to that person.  If a parent/guardian wishes to add additional people to the Emergency Contact Card they must come into the school; phone calls, notes, and faxes WILL NOT be accepted.

Please be aware that students will only be released to those individuals listed on the emergency contact card. All persons picking up a student must be over the age of 18.  Please note:  No students will be released after 3:00 P.M.]

When is the latest time I can pick up my child early? ...On an early release day?

[on a regular school day the latest you can pick up your child is 3:00 P.M. and on early release days the latest pick up time is 1:00 P.M..]

How can I arrange a conference with my child's teachers?

[Call your child's grade level counselor and ask them to make arrangements for a teacher conference with all the teachers your child has or if you wish with just one teacher. If you are having problems with a teacher, please discuss this with them first, often problems are based on misunderstandings that can usually be cleared up with a phone call or a face to face discussion.

[Yes. You may email teachers by entering the initial and last name (i.e. Leslie Thomas, you would enter lthomas@dadeschools.net]

Do Teachers have voice mail accounts?

[No. Parents are allowed to leave a message by calling (305) 271-3342.]

Is there a school supply list?

[No, we do not offer a school supply list. We suggest the students wait until the first day of school and speak with each individual teacher.]
