Glades Middle School’s vision statement encompasses a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment developed through interdisciplinary planning, that will engage the learning styles of all students by infusing technology throughout the curriculum.

MISSION STATEMENT

Glades Middle School’s mission statement is to empower students with critical thinking skills so that they are prepared for lifelong learning and stresses the values of creativity, innovation, and experimentation. Thus, providing the students with the tools needed to succeed in a highly technological world and become productive members of society.

 

Next time you see Mr. Siles be sure to tell him Thanks for the cool Everglades mural on our school's front wall. That is right folks, we have an artist extraordinaire as our assistant principal, Mr. Siles is the solo artist who on his own time came out during the summer to paint that great mural.

SCHOOL DRESS CODE
(Rule 6Gx13-5C-1.03)


There is considerable evidence to indicate that there is a close relationship between pupil attire and pupil behavior. Cleanliness, personal appearance, and proper dress are important in setting the pattern of school and social conduct.

 

Our school is judged by our appearance. Consequently, good and proper grooming should be encouraged at all times. School should be thought of as one's place of business where good grooming is essential.

 

Students whose personal attire or grooming distracts the attention of other students or teachers from their school work, shall be required to make the necessary alterations or be sent home by the Principal.

 

Students who fail to meet the minimum acceptable standards of cleanliness and neatness as determined by the principal and specified in this code, shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary measures including suspension.

  1. Hats and sunglasses are NOT permitted. Head dressings are only permitted for medical or religious purposes.

  2. Open toe shoes including, but not limited to, clogs, thongs, and sandals are NOT permitted.

  3. NO tube tops, see through blouses, bare backs, bare midriffs, fish net jerseys, halter or tank tops, or other related tops are permitted.

  4. Dresses and skirts must be even with or below the level of extended arms and fingers. "Skorts" or shorts are NOT permitted.

  5. Any clothing, which portrays any messages, either in writing or graphics (such as pictures or symbols) related to drugs, alcohol, smoking, sex, or profanity is unacceptable and NOT permitted.

  6. Clothing with metal studs, ornaments, or other objects, which could scratch another student or property or cause damage may NOT be worn.

  7. Metal cleats or shoe straps are also NOT permitted.

  8. Pants are to be worn at waist level at all times and are to be no less than, or in excess of ankle length. Leggings or fisherman type pants are NOT permitted.

  9. Shirts are to be tucked in or worn no longer than hip level.

  10. Oversized clothing and/or other items, which may portray gang relation is NOT allowed.

  11. Oversized earrings or pierced body parts other than the ears are NOT permitted.

  12. Lengthy spiked hairdos are NOT permitted, as well as unnatural hair color such as blue, green, pink, purple, etc.
